Assemblyman Tri Ta Releases Statement on College Protests
Assemblyman Tri Ta is the Vice Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee
ORANGE COUNTY— Assemblyman Tri Ta, Vice Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee released the following statement today:
While I always support the right to peacefully protest, the videos coming from campuses throughout California are extremely concerning.
College campuses have always been a home for the peaceful, free exchange of ideas and every student has a right to feel safe on their campus. However, targeting fellow students based on their support for Israel is abhorrent. What we saw at UCLA last night and early this morning was a failure of leadership. Campus administrators and local law enforcement should take immediate steps to restore order to California’s campuses. Any student blocking access, harassing fellow students, or resorting to violence should face disciplinary action and/or potential arrest.
I call on campus leaders to send a message that antisemitism, violent protests, and the forcible occupation of campus buildings cannot be tolerated.
