Assemblyman Tri Ta Applauds the Passage of Critical
Bipartisan Wildfire Funding Package
The vote comes after the Governor amended his Special Legislative Session to now include immediate action for wildfire response and recovery.
ORANGE COUNTY—Today, the State Assembly unanimously passed a $2.5B bipartisan funding package for the wildfires in Los Angeles County.
“Urgent funding cannot get to our communities fast enough,” said Assemblyman Tri Ta. “While this is an important first step, more must be done to prevent future fires from destroying our neighborhoods in California. I look forward to working with my colleagues to prioritize clearing brush and properly managing our open spaces to reduce fire fuel. We must do all we can to prevent a future tragedy,” concluded Ta.
The legislation includes a requirement for the Department of Finance to maintain a public website with detailed reports on how the monies are spent. Unfortunately, an amendment by Assembly Republicans for $1B in additional fire prevention funding was voted down by the majority party.
The legislation is expected to be signed by the Governor later today.
