California Celebrates Huell Howser Day on October 18

ORANGE COUNTY– As a result of the passage of Assemblyman Tri Ta’s ACR 54 earlier this year, this Saturday, October 18, is designated as Huell Howser Day across California.  This resolution celebrates Huell Howser and his impact on the history, culture, people, and stories of California.

October 18 would have been Mr. Howser’s 80th birthday.  He passed away in 2013, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire Californians across the state.

“Huell Howser showed us the beauty in everyday life throughout the Golden State,” said Assemblyman Tri Ta.  “His no-frills style taught us to slow down and appreciate the stories that make our state so unique.”

Best known for producing “California’s Gold,” Huell also created popular PBS shows such as “Downtown,” “California’s Golden Coast,” “California’s Golden Parks,” and “Visiting…with Huell Howser” along with many other specials that celebrated uniquely Californian stories, people, and landmarks.

ACR 54 encourages Californians to celebrate Huell Howser Day by exploring their own communities, visiting local landmarks, and taking time to appreciate California history and culture.
