Assemblymembers Tri Ta, Phillip Chen, and Laurie Davies Call on California Public Utilities Commission to Investigate High Natural Gas Prices and to Advance Climate Credit to Consumers

SACRAMENTO– Assemblymembers Tri Ta, Phillip Chen, and Laurie Davies are calling on the California Public Utilities Commission to investigate recent increases in natural gas prices and to issue the Climate Credit to consumers early to offset the costs.

“Families and businesses in our community are facing unaffordable increases in their natural gas bills,” said Assemblyman Ta. “I am calling on the CPUC to investigate these price hikes and take immediate action to provide relief to our constituents, such as advancing the biannual Climate Credit for utility consumers.”

According to a recent article by the Wall Street Journal, California natural gas prices are up to five times higher than the national average.

Recent data has shown that natural gas prices in the region have risen significantly, putting a strain on the budgets of many households and businesses. The CPUC has the authority and the responsibility to investigate these price increases and to take action to protect consumers.
